"East Meets West" Travel Grants

These grants will provide partial or full support to cover the conference registration fees, travel and/or accommodation in one of the designated Conference hotels. Multiple individual grants are expected, subject to the availability of funds. Minorities, people with disabilities and women are especially encouraged to apply. There will be several sub-categories of these merit-based grants:

(1) Women in Science & Engineering. The NAP-2019 Organizing Committee encourages participation of women in the technical program of the conference, regardless of their nationality or ethnic backgrounds.

(2) Students and Early Career Participants. Only full-time (at the time of abstract submissions) graduate/undergraduate students who submitted their conference proceeding manuscript will be eligible. Other factors taken into consideration include gender balance, diversity of the applicants’ area of research and geographical representation.

(3) Need-Based Grants. The Organizing Committee wills also consider need-based application from meritous candidates, regardless of their career status. The applicants are required to present their work and timely submit the conference proceeding manuscript.

(4) High School Students & Teachers. We will provide grant support for one team of exceptional high school students and their teacher(s) who excel in educating the next generation of Ukrainian scientists. Applications from winners of All-Ukrainian and International Olympiads in Physics, Chemistry or Engineering will be given the highest priority. A team should include at least one teacher and up to three pupils. The applicants who plan to participate in the conference with a poster or oral presentation will be given priority. Please note that the university students are not eligible here, and instead should consider applying under the Category # 2 above.

The travel grant application should include the following information:

- Cover Letter justifying the need for a travel grant, and kind of support requested (reg. fees, accommodation and/or travel);
- One-page Summary of the NAP-2021 presentation (with title, co-authors & affiliations);
- Detailed Resume or CV, together with the list of Publications;
- Copy of the Applicants’ academic records (required for student applicants only);
- Copy of the student’s ID card (if appropriate).

All documents have to be combined into a single PDF file, with the file name that includes the applicant’s last name, followed by the grant sub-category number (1, 2, 3 or 4, see above). For example: Shevchenko_2.pdf, McClaremy_1.pdf, etc.

All applicants are expected to attend the entire conference and actively participate in all technical sessions. Travel grant applications should be emailed to info@nap.sumdu.edu.ua before July 1st, 2021, with “the NAP2021 Travel Grant Application” in the subject line. Late applications will not be considered.

The NAP-2021 Travel Award Committee will review and rank the applications, and provide recommendations to the Conferences General Chairs for final approval. Appeals will not be considered. The decisions will be emailed to successful Applicants by July 15th, 2021, or earlier.

Please note that the travel grant applicants are required to register on the conference website and submit their manuscripts for the NAP-2021 Proceedings.
