Odesa is the third largest city in Ukraine with a rich history and fascinating sights. Before the Tsarist establishment of Odesa, an ancient Greek settlement existed at its location as elsewhere along the northwestern Black Sea coast. A relatively more recent Tatar settlement was also founded at the location by, the Khan of Crimea in 1440 that was named after him as "Hacıbey". After a period of Lithuanian Grand Duchy control, Hacibey and surroundings became part of the domain of the Ottomans in 1529 and remained there until the empire's defeat in the Russo-Turkish War of 1792. Then in 1794, the Russian empress Catherine the Great decided to create a port on the Black Sea to expand ties with Europe, and Odesa was born.

During the 19th century, Odesa was the fourth largest city of Imperial Russia, after Moscow, Saint Petersburg and Warsaw. Its historical architecture has a style more Mediterranean than Russian, having been heavily influenced by French and Italian styles. Some buildings are built in a mixture of different styles, including Art Nouveau, Renaissance and Classicist.

During the first and second world wars, the city was almost destroyed, but, despite everything, it was revived and rebuilt, and continues to actively develop, becoming the hallmark of modern Ukraine. Everyone who visited Odesa calls it the “pearl of the Black Sea”, because this is a city with a soul and its own unique atmosphere, which is impossible not to fall in love with. It attracts guests and visitors not only by the mild climate, the many sandy beaches and the warm sea, but also by the variety of interesting places that will surely trigger attention even the most sophisticated traveler.

Among the many attractions of Odesa one should definitely visit the Odesa National Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet (opened in 1887), which surprises with its unique acoustics in the hall, allowing you to easily hear the whispers of actors on the stage, but at the same time, without giving any opportunity to hear what they say in the next row, This is a place where you can see the dancing angels, quickly ran a look at the figures of all sculptures of the tier. It also fascinates with its beauty thanks to the combination of various styles, its facade is designed in neo-baroque (Vienna baroque) style, and the architecture of the auditorium - in the late French rococo style.

  

Odesa can surprise with the famous Primorsky Boulevard - the symbol of the city, where amazing energy reigns. It stretches from the Duma building to the very columns of the Vorontsov Palace, in its center is a monument to Duke Duke de Richelieu, and at the foot of his feet runs a stepped river Potemkin Stairs. Here you can enjoy superb views of the sea and the sea port.

Potemkinskaya staircase is one of the main attractions of Odesa and a monument of architecture of the beginning of the XIX century. According to the legend, Count M.S. Vorontsov began construction of the stairs, which would be presented as a gift to his wife Elizabeth. It consists of 192 steps and allows you to rise without tiredness to a height of 27 meters.

No less interesting are the charming streets of Pushkinskaya, Rishelievskaya, Lanzheronovskaya, world-famous Moldavanka, the ruins of a Turkish fortress in Taras Shevchenko Park, Church of St. Mary Magdalene, as well as first-class museums – Archaeological, Fleet, Literary Museum, Museum of Western & Eastern Art, Local History Museum, A.
