"East Meets West" Travel Grants

 

These grants will provide partial or full support to cover the conference registration fees, travel and/or accommodation in one of the designated Conference hotels. Multiple individual grants are expected, subject to the availability of funds. Minorities, people with disabilities and women are especially encouraged to apply. There will be several sub-categories of these merit-based grants:

(1) Women in Science & Engineering. The NAP-2019 Organizing Committee encourages participation of women in the technical program of the conference, regardless of their nationality or ethnic backgrounds.

(2) Students and Early Career Participants. Only full-time (at the time of abstract submissions) graduate/undergraduate students who submitted their conference proceeding manuscript will be eligible. Other factors taken into consideration include gender balance, diversity of the applicants’ area of research and geographical representation.

(3) Need Based Grants. The Organizing Committee wills also consider need-based application from meritous candidates, regardless of their career status. The applicants are required to present their work and timely submit the conference proceeding manuscript.

(4) High School Students & Teachers. We will provide grant support one team of exceptional high school students and their teacher(s) who excel in educating the next generation of Ukrainian scientists. Applications from winners of All-Ukrainian and International Olympiads in Physics, Chemistry or Engineering will be given highest priority. A team should include at least one teacher and up to three pupils. The applicants who plan to participate in the conference with a poster or oral presentation will be given priority. Please note that the university students are not eligible here, and instead should consider applying under the Category # 2 above.

The travel grant application should include the following information:

- Cover Letter justifying the need for a travel grant, and kind of support requested (reg. fees, accommodation and/or travel);
- One-page Summary of the NAP-2019 presentation (with title, co-authors & affiliations);
- Detailed Resume or CV, together with the list of Publications;
- Copy of the Applicants’ academic records (required for student applicants only);
- Copy of the student’s ID card (if appropriate).

All documents have to be combined into a single PDF file, with the file name that includes the applicant’s last name, followed by the grant sub-category number (1, 2, 3 or 4, see above). For example: Shevchenko_2.pdf, McClaremy_1.pdf, etc.

All applicants are expected to attend the entire conference and actively participate in all technical sessions. Travel grant applications should be emailed to info@nap.sumdu.edu.ua before June 3rd, 2019, with “the NAP2019 Travel Grant Application” in the subject line. Late applications will not be considered.

The NAP-2019 Travel Award Committee will review and rank the applications, and provide recommendations to the Conferences General Chairs for final approval. Appeals will not be considered. The decisions will be emailed to successful Applicants by July 15th, 2019, or earlier.

Please note that the travel grant applicants are required to register on the conference website and submit their manuscripts for the NAP-2019 Proceedings.

 

Conference Grants for Inclusiveness Target Countries (ITC)*

 

CRM-Extreme COST Action CA15102 provides PhD students and Early Career Investigators with an opportunity to receive a Travel Grant for participation in NAP-2019.

Eligibility criteria:

  1. Only applicants from the following ITC countries are eligible: Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Croatia, Hungary, Lithuania, Latvia, Luxembourg, Malta, Montenegro, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Slovakia, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Republic of Serbia and Turkey.
  2. Priority will be given to the applicants whose oral or poster presentations best address the goals of the Action defined as follows: "Solutions for Critical Raw Materials Under Extreme Conditions (CRM-Extreme)" focuses on the substitution of CRMs (like Cr, Co, Nb, W, Y) in high value alloys and metal-matrix composites used under extreme conditions of temperature, loading, friction, wear, corrosion, in Energy, Transportation and Machinery manufacturing industries.
  3. Deadline to apply for ITC Grant is 22nd of July 2019.

We kindly suggest you consider your research from CRMs point of view and if necessary provide some additional discussion in the paper. If you've already made a submission but need to perform an update for your contribution it is possible via NAP web-site or after direct communication with NAP-2019 organizing committee. During the application process you will be also asked to submit a short description of your research activity in respect to COST Action. ITC Grants will cover registration fee, travel and living expenses.

The reimbursement is possible only after the closing of the conference. A short scientific report will be required.

To be considered for ITC Travel Grant financial support one should complete the following steps:

  1. Register and submit your contribution to NAP-2019.
  2. Register on e-COST platform https://e-services.cost.eu/
